motivation The motivation for starting an organization like ProKiD is very obvious. You take a tour around bangalore, still thinking that you are in the land of kannada; you will have a shock, a culture shock. Many questions runs though your mind. Why is that kannada speaking guy so soft and why is he so shy to talk kannada loudly. And the thought in your mind asks you: Are bangalore kannadigas Chickens? Of course, there are plethora of reasons for starting this organization. Extreme sadness at the plight of kannada in bangalore. An average bangalorean is ignoring kannada. Forget about the state government, it cannot come out of its own bureaucracy to help its own language. Irrespective of government's action, an average kannadiga is not helping to uphold the status of kannada. That is SAD! A language that is so rich in its tradition, seems to be getting wiped out in its own capital. A national language that has the highest number of Jnanapeeth Award (no other language including hindi comes close to this performance) is declining in its popularity in its own land. Shame on that kannadiga who cannot stand up for his mother tongue. This is unacceptable! We can acheive only so much by just talking about this, or writing about this. The reason for this debacle could be many. May be we kannadigas are just outnumbered in the basket of bangalore where we have put all our eggs (money). The other cities are pretty good in respecting kannada, but there is no money in those cities to encourage the growth of kannada. Or may be we kannadigas are very soft and we need to wake up. Immaterial of the reasons, we have a goal to accomplish. How can we get the glory of kannada back? The reasoning for this question is not a rocket science; but irrespective of our answer we need to stick with our plans. We want to make each other aware that we are so many in strength and understand that our effort will be multiplied by sharing our thoughts with others. We feel the sense of belongingness when we share our ideas and thats the unity we need. The effort of ProKiD is to acheive this unity. ProKiD aims to translate our (expressed and shared) ideas into simple steps that we can practice in our daily lives. And spread these practices among our families and our neighborhood people. This power of practicing and preaching is enormous. There have been many silent contributors whose contributions can give us a good break, like Sheshadri Vasu, the author of Baraha Software for creating kannada documents. We have to pay our tribute to a soul like this. These softwares are a good mechanism to bring our language to the new age and carry the language to our future generations. There are many Sheshadri Vasu's among us, we need to discover ourselves and be a motivation for the remaining of us. - ºÉÆAiÀÄì¼À
